Kakani Venkata Ratnam College is a private aided college, affiliated to
Krishna University and is recognised by UGC under 2f and 12b. It was established in 1968 by "The
Nandigama Educational Society" with the motto of providing educational
facilities to the rural community, catering to their needs and shaping their
destinies towards prosperity and development to stand as good citizens of the
nation. Towards this direction, many stalwarts of the area strove hard for the
establishment and the smooth running of the institution with a minimum student
strength of 315 and 18 lecturers and the college now is flourishing with around
1000 students and 60 staff with P.G. programmes besides several U.G. and Intermediate
programmes relentlessly striving for academic ambience and progress. The
infrastructure facilities are adequate to the needs of the students in
accordance with the current trends.
Different Academic Committees have been formed to run the
institution effectively and smoothly and to create academic ambience besides
developing innate skills and talents of the students.
The college Library has around 35000 books besides various
prestigious journals and periodicals around 55. The library is kept open for the
students & staff from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The NSS of the college has got three units with 200 strength doing
many social activities by adapting villages and conducting camps.
The college campus is maintained neatly with several trees and
greenery contributing to ecological balance. So many morning walkers make use of
the campus and several programmes like Yoga, Karate coaching, Police parades are
the regular early morning activities in the campus.
The NCC unit of the college has 100 cadets and assumed a full
fledged company. Cadets are being trained in Firing, Drill, Map reading, First
Aid, Civil Defense, weapon training besides attending many community activities
like participating in pulse polio camps, traffic control programmes etc.
The teaching faculty are the boon to the college having done
Ph.D.s and M.Phils. besides their doing UGC project works and publications. Also their
participation in the intellectual discussions is the regular academic activity.
Good administration of the Management and Principal is another
feather in the cap of the college. We believe work is worship.
On these lines the college is treading forward towards betterment and
prosperity.

The College was inaugurated on 12th July, 1968 with P.U.C, B.A and B.Com courses. |
1969-70 |
Intermediate course was introduced with M.P.C and Bi.P.C as single section. |
1973-74 |
The college was admitted into grant-in-aid from 1973. |
1975-76 |
H.E.C combination in Intermediate and B.Sc. courses were started. |
1981-82 |
B.Sc and Intermediate H.E.C sections were admitted into grant-in-aid. |
1984-85 |
Intermediate M.P.C & Bi.P.C combinations were admitted into grant-in-aid. |
1986-87 |
M.E.C combination in Intermediate was introduced. |

U.G.C recognition under 2(f) from 5.7.1987. |

B.Sc (M. P. Computers) & Intermediate English medium courses were started. |
